The Raman Science Centre at Nagpur is an interactive science center affiliated with Mumbai`s Nehru Science Centre.The center was developed to promote a scientific attitude, portray the growth of science and technology and their applications in industry and human welfare, and hold science exhibits.The centre is named after famous Nobel Prize winner Indian physicist Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman.The Raman Science Centre was inaugurated on 7 March 1992 and the planetarium was started on 5 January 1997.
The Raman Science Centre, Nagpur is an constituent unit of National Council of Science Museums, Kolkata, Working under the aegis of Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India. This centre is established in the year 1989 for popularisation of Science among masses and students in particular of Vidarbha region. The name Raman was given due to the fact the Sir C. V. Raman, first Indian Nobel laureate in Physics, who has a Nagpur connection while he was associated with Auditor general's office in Nagpur.
